I bought this baby carrier when my child was about 1.5 months old because I felt the limitations of the Konny baby carrier. it is a mistake to compare it with the Konny baby carrier, but it is by far the easiest to hold, the most secure, and the most comfortable for both the carrier and the carried.
There are two major differences from the ergobaby offered as a comparison at the Baby Bookstore.
The ergobaby has an indentation for the child’s bottom, while the BabyBjorn wraps the child from below. However, the child’s back side is also made of mesh, so I am a little worried about the coldness in winter.
The ergobaby has two fastening points at the waist and back, while the BabyBjorn has five points at the waist and four on the front.
The ergobaby has an indentation for the buttocks, while the BabyBjorn is shaped to hold the child from below.
My wife preferred the BabyBjorn because she is very stiff and the back clasp on the ergobaby is too tight.
BabyBjorn has five clasps, so it is more difficult than ergobaby, but once you get used to it, you honestly don’t mind. Also, in winter, if you are wearing a coat over the baby carrier and want to put the child down, you need to take off the coat with ergobaby, but not with BabyBjorn. Furthermore, BabyBjorn has clasps on all sides to support the child, so it is safe to say that the child will not fall out even if a malicious third party removes the back clasps. To begin with, the back clasp is not an insert buckle, so a third party cannot remove it with a single touch.
When carrying a child of about 2 months old, the waist belt is fixed higher than the waist because of the child’s short height, and to be honest, it is not very useful in terms of supporting the weight with the waist, but with the shoulders. However, since the weight is about 5~6 kg, there is no problem for an average man.
So far, I have been able to carry the baby for 3~4 hours without getting tired.
I am so glad I bought it because the Konny was so hard for me. I have no complaints at all and use it every day when I go out for a walk or shopping, I don’t think either one is better than ergobaby just because they have different functions.
