There are few garments more quintessentially British than the Baracuta G9 Jacket, which is the one and only, original Harrington Jacket. It’s a true cross-cultural piece, and to this day it has been designed and made in the UK since 1937. It’s lined with the iconic Fraser Tartan lining, made from breathable Coolmax® fabric. Other features include, the classic two-button collar, deep pockets made to hold two golf balls, ribbed cuffs, and hem. Finished off with the unmistakable umbrella back yoke designed to keep rainwater at bay, Baracuta’s got your back covered – literally! Made in the UK from the get-go and created for unpredictable British weather, it can also be worn in any setting, by any person and in any season. [英訳]
筆者の体形は、身長171cm、体重73kg。全体的に肉付きが良く、スポーツ経験を問われることが多い。 筆者が購入したのは36サイズ。特に国別でサイズが異なるということは無い模様。 The author is 171 cm tall, weighs 73 kg, and is generally well-fleshed out, which often calls into question his sports experience. The author purchased a size 36. There does not appear to be any particular country-specific size differences.
It is just right as a size when worn over a shirt. Since I have gained about 5~10kg since I purchased it, it feels a bit small. If you are close to the author’s body shape, size 40 would be just right. (I would buy a second larger one if it were cheaper)
It seems a little small for my current body shape, but it is not so noticeable because the sleeves are long enough that even the author, who has long arms, does not feel particularly uncomfortable.
The sleeves and hem are ribbed, but the double zipper means that even the author with large hips can wear it coolly by opening the bottom part a little.
The liner is Baracuta’s signature red check. When I bought it, there were people who wanted to show off the check or wore it inside out, but I think it’s cool to see a glimpse of it.
The company I work for is not too picky about what to wear, so I wear Baracuta to work over a shirt in the spring and fall.
If you live in the Tokyo metropolitan area, there is a store selling Baracuta at Ameyoko in Ueno, so you can easily try it on.
It is quite excellent as outerwear for spring and fall. Frankly speaking, it is quite difficult for me personally to choose outerwear for spring and fall, but if you wear this jacket for now, you will look good for now. However, the shape of the jacket and the red checks don’t go well with too rough an outfit or hair style, so be careful.
The G9 Harrington Jacket, introduced in 1937, is the representative work of this brand, which was established independently by the founder who had supplied raincoats to Burberry, Aquascutum, and others. The G9 Harrington Jacket, introduced in 1937, is a representative example of the brand’s work. Although it was originally marketed as a golf jacket, it was favored by Elvis Presley and many other celebrities from the 1950s, appeared in movies, and became widely established as a standard item.
