The leather is made from 1~2 year old horsehide and is extremely soft and durable. The leather is so soft from the start that there is little sense of getting accustomed to it. They are soft and easy to put on. But it’s not that they don’t fit well, or that I feel like I’m going to lose my shoes. It’s a very strange feeling.
I feel like I’m wearing them to the office, not to my private life. I think these are the shoes I wear to work the most. The color is a calm brown, so they go well with navy blue or brown outerwear.
When I bought them, I was given a special wax and was told that I should only apply this much wax. I thought it was only in Japan that people wear their shoes shining or put cream on them in detail. I like Japan like that.
I think the size should be just right or even a little small. If you buy them just right size because they are soft, you will feel a little insecure. I thought I could wear them more comfortably if they were a little smaller and fit snugly.
I bought these in a store when I lived in Australia, but they were factory made, not stock compatible. This is because there are many items to choose from. The reason is that you can choose the shape, leather, color, and sole as you like. In addition, the size of a human foot differs slightly from left to right, but the company measured the left and right sizes and supplied the shoes in the correct size for each. Therefore, the shoes I have are slightly different in size from left to right.
When I told them that I might be in Japan by the time the shoes were ready to be made, they were very light-hearted and said they would send them to me free of charge, so just let me know. This was also the case when I purchased Allen Edmonds in the U.S., but I really appreciate the easy free international shipping.
The photos of the Chelsea boots look like ordinary Chelsea boots, but when I tried them on, I was amazed. I have yet to find shoes that are this soft and durable. If you have a chance to visit Australia, please give them a try. Incidentally, the only seam is at the heel, so it is a luxurious shoe made of a single piece of leather.
